Work calendar in 2027: 9 public holidays in the autonomous regions and three long weekends

The year 2027 will have twelve public holidays in Spain, nine of which are common to all autonomous communities, according to the working calendar published this Tuesday in the Official State Gazette (BOE). The year will begin on a Friday holiday, 1 January, but there will be few opportunities to enjoy long weekends.

With an absence of the desired long weekends created by public holidays falling midweek —unless some autonomous communities move a holiday to create them— the coming year will have only three long weekends (three consecutive days without work). The first is the first week of the year, since 1 January falls on a Friday, after which we will have to wait until November. In the eleventh month of the year, 1 November, All Saints' Day, falls on a Monday; and later, 6 December, Constitution Day, will also be a Monday, allowing the weekend to be extended on both dates.

Once again, the holidays common to all autonomous communities will be as follows:

1 January: New Year's Day (Friday)

6 January: Epiphany of the Lord (Wednesday)

26 March: Good Friday (Friday)

1 May: Labour Day (Saturday)

15 August: Assumption of the Virgin (Sunday)

12 October: National Day of Spain (Tuesday)

6 December: Constitution Day (Monday)

8 December: Immaculate Conception (Wednesday)

25 December: Nativity of the Lord (Saturday).

Among the non-replaceable national holidays there are eight dates: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Labour Day, National Day of Spain, All Saints' Day, Constitution Day, Immaculate Conception and Christmas. To these is added the Epiphany of the Lord (6 January), a national holiday that autonomous communities may replace with another traditional one, but which none has changed for 2027.

Easter at the end of March

The celebration of Easter will coincide with the last week of March: from 25 to 29 March.

Among the regional and replaceable holidays, six communities have preferred to celebrate the day after the Assumption of the Virgin (Monday 16 August): Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid.

On the other hand, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarra and País Valencià will celebrate Saint Joseph's Day (19 March).

Easter Monday (29 March) will be a public holiday in the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Navarra, the Basque Country, La Rioja and País Valencià, while Castilla-La Mancha will celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi (27 May) and Catalonia, Saint John's Day (24 June).

To these dates are added the holidays specific to each autonomous community and up to two local holidays per municipality.
